Eli Romero, a professional SCA barista, founded and inaugurated Mulano Coffee Shop in 2022. This café is located in the south of Ecuador in a city of 25,000 inhabitants called Piñas, making it the first specialty coffee shop in the Province of El Oro.
From the start, it has stood out by using coffees from the best farms in the country on its menu. Additionally, it is a reference point for both local and international gastronomy, and its extensive offering in cocktails, mocktails, imported beers, pét-nat (natural sparkling wines), and signature drinks is very wide.
It is a very cozy space spanning 335 square meters, where its three environments (Bar, Restaurant, and Coffee Shop) are distributed. It operates within a heritage house from the year 1950 owned by Eli. The distribution of the spaces makes Mulano Coffee Shop a meeting place for people of all ages.
Furthermore, Mulano is the Competition Body for Ecuador holding the World Coffee Championships license, and it organizes the national championships for baristas, brewers, and cupping, whose winners represent Ecuador in their respective World Championships. It is also the representative for Ecuador of the Latte Art Grading System (LAGS) license and, similarly, organizes the national Latte Art championships whose winners represent Ecuador in the World Championship.
The mission and vision of Mulano Coffee Shop from its beginnings are: consistency, sustainability, direct trade with the farmer, and the promotion of coffee culture.
