Founded in 2014 in the Narvarte neighborhood of Mexico City, Almanegra was born as a project committed to its local community and Mexican coffee. Their name evokes the depth and character of the coffee they serve, but it also reflects a philosophy: every cup is the result of real human bonds with producers from states like Hidalgo and Oaxaca, whom they support through direct traceability, fair prices, and respect for their expertise.
They challenge global narratives of quality to propose something more honest: that the excellence of a coffee is measured not just in points, but in the history, the territory, and the relationships that make it possible. With four locations in Narvarte, Roma, Escandón, and Moderna, as well as courses open to the public and a technical support program for partner coffee shops, Almanegra does not just serve specialty coffee—they cultivate an entire community around it.
