The vision for Dark Pony has always been to make the world of specialty coffee fun and inclusive to all. They are a small team who share a passion for coffee, working together to champion what they think are some of the best coffees available. They don’t focus on any particular origin, process, or variety, but instead choose to buy coffee based on what has piqued their interest and then shown potential on the cupping table.
Within the café itself, they offer a diverse coffee menu with a rotation of three espressos and three filters, including a couple of frozen options of each from previous coffees that they have really enjoyed. Their atmosphere is relaxed, as is their customer service. The team wants people to feel comfortable in the space and not be intimidated to ask questions about the coffee on offer.
All of their baked goods are made in-house by themselves, with a mix of staples and fresh recipes arriving every week or so. The space is fairly minimalist; they wanted it to feel clean, uncluttered, and welcoming. They built the entire space themselves, so it has definitely been improved over the years and reflects their current interests in design.
They also host monthly cuppings to engage with the local community, share their enthusiasm for coffee, and encourage more people to explore everything this industry has to offer.
